“Made in U.S.A. Catalog 2026”
In 1976, while covering the inaugural issue of Popeye magazine, I visited the American West Coast. There, I encountered a rational and unpretentious fashion style. This style came to be known as "Amekaji (American Casual)” in Japan, and eventually spread to Shibuya Casual and Ura-Harajuku culture. Elements of military, workwear, sportswear and outdoor wear have repeatedly transformed, continuing to influence Japanese fashion. To commemorate the 50th anniversary, we are featuring the enduring appeal of American Casual, a style we all love.
